The Government of Cantabria, through the Regional Development Agency, SODERCAN, is partnering with La Rioja, Aragón, the Community of Valencia, Navarra and Cataluña, in Tech FabLab, a strategic alliance for the creation of a transregional support system for digital entrepreneurship.
Tech FabLab project is based on digital entrepreneurial networks with the aim of addressing needs of entrepreneurial initiatives associated with key enabling technologies (KETs) across the participating Autonomous Communities.
The project aims to create a network of stakeholders capable of identifying, fostering and supporting tech-based entrepreneurial initiatives based on Artificial Intelligence and other disruptive technologies applicable in a wide range of regional RIS3 ecosystems.
To achieve these goals, the project will leverage and share resources, knowledge, experience and public-private funding among members of the network.
This collaborative effort aims to stimulate the creation of new markets and new companies based on Artificial Intelligence and other disruptive technologies and facilitate upscaling.
Tech FabLab is part of the RETECH ‘Digital Entrepreneurship Networks’ program, part of the Spanish government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union through the Next Generation EU fund, specifically for the execution of projects within Component 13 “Boosting SMEs” of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. Investment 1 (C13.I1).
Tech FabLab has a total budget of 31.5 million euros, 75% of which is provided by the EU’s Next Generation funds.
Through SODERCAN, Cantabria will invest 798,500 euros in the project, of which the regional government will contribute 25%, that is 199.625 eurosCon el objetivo de lograr lo anterior, se van a aprovechar y compartir los recursos, el conocimiento, la experiencia, el ingenio, los retos industriales y la financiación público-privada entre los miembros de esta red.

WORK AREAS
The project will consist of the following work areas:
METHODOLOGIES
Development of methodologies which support projects in the phases of business acceleration and upscaling.
TECHNOLOGY INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM
Processes to gather, analyse and disseminate information regarding new technologies to start-ups and participating companies using business intelligence tools.
GLOBAL VIRTUAL COMMUNITY
A global virtual community including all project participants, creating a technology ecosystem to facilitate communication, cooperation and collaboration between participants and the development of joint projects.
TOOLS DESIGN
Design and development of tools to enhance competitiveness and further business development.
DISSEMINATION AND PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES
Activities to promote and raise awareness of the project, the actions undertaken and to connect and engage the various stakeholders within regional and national technology ecosystems.
- Eight start-ups participate with SODERCAN at the South Summit Fair in Madrid
- Cantabria joins the Tech FabLab project to boost technology start-ups in coordination with other regions.
- SODERCAN supports the participation of Cantabrian start-ups in the South Summit Fair in Madrid.
- Eight start-ups participate with SODERCAN at the Transfiere Forum in Málaga.
TRAINING
Training activities, expert mentoring and professional technical support oriented towards boosting scaleups, spinoffs, vocational training and education, and the general development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem within the region.
DEFINITION OF STRATEGIC CHALLENGES
Actions to serve as a bridge between innovation and industry, enabling Cantabrian companies to access early-stage innovation systems, which are faster, more flexible and more cost-effective than internal R&D projects.

SPRINTS FOR TECHNOLOGY ADAPTATION
Actions for the practical application of the most advanced disruptive technologies within the business ecosystem, through professional training, events, forums and other actions.
PROJECT DEMO DAYS
Presentation of the results of cooperative projects conducted through a business acceleration and open innovation program.
COOPERATION AGREEMENTS
Agreements enabling regional companies from priority ecosystems to cooperate with start-up teams to implement solutions for Industry 4.0 and energy sustainability.
This Tech FabLab Node Network, using technology intelligence, offers high-level opportunities for entrepreneurial development, expert training and coaching and the identification and promotion of local initiatives. This will engage the leading companies of each region in the development of new products, offering a collaborative physical and virtual environment to foster growth and interregional cooperation while also serving as a key mechanism in the attraction and retention of talent.
