Cantabrian Government and Ministry of Transport will finance the intermodal of La Pasiega.

The regional executive and the Ministry of Transport will sign a collaboration agreement for the construction and financing of the railway logistics platform included in the ‘La Pasiega’ project.

The Government of Cantabria and the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility have agreed to jointly promote the intermodal station of the La Pasiega industrial estate, after the meeting recently held by the presidents of ADIF (Administrador de infraestructuras ferroviarias), Pedro Marco de la Peña, and Puertos del Estado, Álvaro Rodríguez Dapena, with the regional president, María José Sáenz de Buruaga.

In this way, the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility will co-finance the new railway terminal at 50%, through Adif, together with the Cantabrian Government.

The regional executive, through the public company SICAN (Industrial Land of Cantabria), will promote the tender for the drafting of the project and will be in charge of the construction of the facilities, while ADIF will advance 40% of the amount to accelerate the construction process and will collaborate in the technical aspects. Likewise, Adif will provide the necessary technical support for the drafting, processing and construction of the intermodal terminal, as well as in relation to the management of the intermodal terminal.

The Ministry of Transport and the Government of Cantabria will establish a framework of collaboration that channels the economic contributions of the State, complementing those mobilized by the regional administration and also analysing the possibility of applying for European aid jointly.

The terms of the agreement will be set in an agreement in which the Government of Cantabria and the Central Government are starting to work from today, as well as with ADIF so that the Cantabrian public company SICAN can tender the drafting of the project as soon as possible.

In addition, ADIF will facilitate the connection of the terminal to the railway network of general interest.
