La tecnológica Hikvision desembarca en Cantabria

The President of Cantabria, María José Saénz de Buruaga, accompanied by the president of Hikvision Iberia, Ethan Qu, visited the Torre Xtela at PCTCAN (Parque Científico y Tecnológico), where the Chinese multinational will locate its new centre for the north of Spain, an innovation hub which will serve as the nerve centre for the development of new solutions and latest developments by Hikvision in AIOT – Artificial Intelligence of Things.

The head of Hikvision Iberia travelled to Cantabria to join the Minister of Industry, Employment, Innovation and Commerce, Eduardo Arasti, in signing the lease for an entire floor in Torre Xtela.

The multinational, with over 58,000 employees, over 100,000 clients and over 10,000 patents, will be just one of the companies to occupy this complex, near the Hydraulic Institute, after over 10 years of vacancy.

The president thanked Hikvision for their commitment to Cantabria, affirming that the arrival to the PCTCAN of this technology company, a leader audiovisual technologies, security solutions and artificial intelligence, represents an “inflection point” for the region and an indication that government strategies are moving in the right direction.

Thus, Cantabria is becoming an attractive region for investment, economic activity and employment, thanks to the important measures implemented in the first year of the legislature, attracting international investment and new business projects.

Hikvision’s new centre at PCTCAN’s Torre Xtela will include complete technological facilities to provide training to clients and present its products to potential partners and collaborating companies.

SYNERGIES WITH LOCAL TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES

The president noted that this centre will generate synergies and cooperation agreements with local technology companies and public entities, remarking that this “is an enormous opportunity” for Cantabrian companies seeking to develop products and solutions on Hikvision platforms.

These new products and solutions developed by Cantabrian companies, once validated by the multinational, can be implemented throughout the world, with all the opportunities this involves. “This company will be an engine of growth for many others and will attract other companies to Cantabria”, Buruaga affirmed.

Furthermore, the president noted that Hikvision will also function as an R&D+i centre, advancing solutions in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, providing technological added-value to Cantabria and other regions of Spain, and put Cantabria on the map for over 58,000 employees of the company and its clients.

The new Hikvision centre will initially offer four senior management positions to lead the multinational’s project and its future growth in Cantabria.

The centre will include a 280-metre showroom to display Hikvision solutions to clients from the north of Spain, training facilities, offices and a test centre and labs for developers.
